Celebrating Israel around the world
Yom Ha’atzmaut is Israel’s national Independence Day commemorating the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948. The day is marked by official and unofficial ceremonies and observances throughout Israel and the Jewish world.
Yom Hazikaron, the Israeli Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism Remembrance Day is always scheduled for the day preceding Independence Day. This intense contrast is usually bridged by a closing ceremony for Yom Hazikaron, followed by the start of 24 hours of celebrations for Israel’s Independence Day.
All over Israel, and in Jewish communities around the world, ceremonies, celebrations, parties, and – particularly in Israel – barbecues are held to honor the day. The Shavei communities are no exception!
One of the hallmark features of these commemorations and celebrations are the blue and white Israeli flags. And, of course, anything else in those colors.
