Raising spirits in challenging times
Of the 162 Bnei Menashe families evacuated from their homes from the border communities of Sderot and Kiryat Shemoneh, a number of them have been in various hotels in Jerusalem and other cities, trying to find a semblance of normal in this extremely challenging time.
Teams from Shavei Israel have met with some of the children and families for activities, support and to raise their spirits. The children were able to express their feelings through drawing, and making pictures and messages of good wishes for the Bnei Menashe soldiers who are out fighting this war.
Below are photos from one of these activities at a Jerusalem hotel. The children were reticent at first, but ultimately joined whole-heartedly. The drawings they did and their art really reflected their experiences. Other children joined in as well. We provided special candies and treats to them at the end. A small gesture of our love and concern while they navigate their way through this challenging ordeal.
Far from their homes in Sderot and Kiryat Shemoneh, and with minimal semblance of ‘normal’, every opportunity to put a smile on their faces is appreciated! Below are some of the Bnei Menashe evacuees of war finding some joy in art projects organized by KKL at the hotels around the country where these children have been housed.
