2nd edition Bnei Menashe siddur rolls off printing press
One of the big projects that Shavei Israel is constantly involved in is writing, publishing and providing necessary books and literature to the various communities we work with. These books include prayer books, Hebrew and Bible study books, and others. It is an enormous amount of work, involving research, translation, transliteration, instructions, traditions and of course all of the work required in publishing and distributing. But it is a labor of love, and one that is so important to us, and for the communities.
With that in mind, we’re happy to announce, at long last, the Second Edition of the Bnei Menashe Sephardi Siddur with Kuki translations and transliterations, here in Israel.
The original one, a project started nearly ten years ago, printed 5,000 copies and they’re all gone. It was clearly time to print more, especially with the hope of more Bnei Menashe making aliyah in the near future.
This new edition, with 1,500 copies, includes a beautiful letter of approbation from Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel.
Michael Freund, Founder and Chairman of Shavei Israel said, “We hope that the Bnei Menashe will draw strength and inspiration from this siddur, and we pray that through the merit of serving G-d with joy, we shall soon witness the ingathering of all the dispersed of Israel to their Land, reunited again as one in Zion.”
Tzvi Khaute, Shavei’s Bnei Menashe Coordinator, said about the new edition, “I’m actually thrilled that the 5,000 first edition copies are gone and we’re really glad to be bringing the second edition with the recommendation and blessing of the Sephardic Chief Rabbi.”
