Yecholiya (Jin Jin)

From Jin Jin to Yecholiya, has been a long and arduous process. It is something that I, as well as all Kaifeng Jews, have been dreaming of. When I was a little girl my father told me that I am a Jew, and that one day we will return to the land that G-d promised us. But, at the time it had little meaning for me, and I had no understanding of what a Jew was. In 1996 the Chinese government suddenly changed all the Kaifeng Jews identity cards from “Jew” to “Chinese”. At the time I didn’t understand what was going on, but deep in my heart was opposed to having my nationality changed. Over the years, the desire to know more about my Jewish identity grew. I learned whatever I could about the Jewish people, and Jewish customs. I had a dream and a strong desire to return to the land G-d had promised us. This dream became a reality in 2006 with the help of Shavei Israel. I was able to finally live as a Jew in a Jewish homeland. Within a year, I successfully went through onversion and reunification with my Jewish people.
