Shuvi (Nina Wang)
Since I was a young girl my mother and grandfather constantly reminded me of my Jewish identity. They told me that one day we would be able to return to the Land of Israel, the land G-d gave to us. However, I had little knowledge of what it meant to be a Jew, as most of our customs were long forgotten. Over the years my interest in my Jewish identity grew. I was curious about the mezuzah on the door, the menorah on the table, and the model of the ancient Kaifeng synagogue that my grandfather had built. I realized that there was a lot of differences between other people and myself, and began to dream of the time I was reunited with my people. My dream became reality with the help of Shavei Israel, and in January 2006 I was able to come to Israel. I spent a year studying the Torah, Jewish History, halacha, as well as many other subjects at Bat Ayin, and successfully went through conversion a year later. I wish to thank G-d for reuniting me with my people, and returning me to my homeland. I also wish to thank all the people who dedicated their time and energy to helping me along my path.
