Shavei’s emotional connection in the ‘Ride for the Living’

The annual Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow hosted many beautiful and important events intended to preserve the authentic cultural achievements of the local community and share them with the wide audience, One of them was the Ride for the Living – a 60 mile bicycle ride from Auschwitz to Krakow.

This year, Shavei Israel’s emissary in Krakow, Rabbi Avi Baumol, participated in this ride together with three of his children, and photos and impressions.

“The Ride was spectacular although I was only there for the opening ceremony,’ Rabbi Baumol admits. ‘My son, a chayal, rode in his uniform and I spoke about what it meant to me to have my son riding while defending the State. He was named after my great uncle who was murdered. I also had Olga, to my left, who is helping to grow Jewish Krakow and her great uncle was killed in action. It was very symbolic”,
