Recent Bnei Menashe Olim leave Absorption Center for new homes in Beit Shean
This week Bnei Menashe families, all of whom immigrated to Israel from India several months ago, left Shavei’s absorption center in Kfar Hasidim for their new apartments in Beit Shean. New immigrants stay in Kfar Hasidim for about three months, using this time to study Hebrew, learn more about Jewish tradition and life in Israel, and getting prepared for their formal conversion to Judaism.
These new immigrants belong to a group of 225 Bnei Menashe that Shavei Israel brought on aliyah in June. All of them used to be residents of northeastern state of Manipur, on the border with Myanmar, where the biggest Bnei Menashe community of India lives.
We’re happy to share with you some pictures depicting the most emotional and meaningful moments from the life in Kfar Hasidim. Here you can see new immigrants reciting Shma Israel in front of the Beit Din (conversion court) after they successfully completed the process of conversion.
Also, this week 12 more couples celebrated their weddings in accordance with Jewish traditions – some many years or even decades after their initial marriage. We wish to the ‘newlyweds’ mazel tov and lots of success in their new lives in Israel!
