Bnei Menashe man injured in terrorist attack visits home
Even Ezer Holaring, a member of the Bnei Menashe community who was seriously injured in a November 2017 terrorist attack, has come home.
For the first time in two months since a Palestinian terrorist plowed his car into the Holaring at the Gush Etzion junction, the 35-year-old Bnei Menashe father of six was released this past weekend from the Hadassah Medical Center for a home visit. He returned to the Mount Scopus campus Saturday night to continue his rehabilitation.
Holaring received a festive reception with friends and family in Kiryat Arba, where he lives. Local council head Malachi Levinger visited the Holaring home. “It is not every day that we see a miracle taking place before our eyes,” Levinger said. “Even Ezer, you are a symbol of courage, and we all pray that you return soon, with the help of the community.”
“I am happy to go home and see the children and be with my family,” Holaring responded. “I want to thank the people of Israel for the many prayers. I have no doubt that it helped.”

Following the attack, Holaring’s wife Miriam posted a video urging people around the world to pray for her husband.
“I am the wife of Even Ezer who was wounded in the attack this morning,” she said in the short video. “His condition is very serious and I am asking everyone to pray for him, Even Ezer, the son of Malka.”
The Bnei Menashe are a major part of Kiryat Arba, now accounting for some 11 percent of the local population, Levinger told Israel National News. “They are an inseparable part of the local pride and are receiving all the solutions we can provide in order to integrate into Israeli society in the best possible way.”
Holaring was struck by the terrorist just a day after the second of two aliyah flights from India landed in Israel last year. Holaring immigrated in 2006 with the help of Shavei Israel. He is an employee of the Karmei Yehuda school in Gush Etzion.
“I have known Even Ezer since India, before we brought him and his family to Israel in 2006,” said Shavei Israel Chairman Michael Freund. “We will do all we can to help him and his family.”
That has included turning to you. The Gush Etzion Foundation and Shavei Israel set up a special website to collect donations to assist the Holaring family in their time of need. Holaring’s oldest son is due to have his bar mitzvah in just another month.
