Aviel Manlun, Jerusalem DJ

Aviel Manlun, is a 29 year-old DJ in Jerusalem. A member of the Bnei Menashe community, Aviel made aliyah with his family, from Manipur, India, in 1994, when he was just two years old. 

 

Aviel grew up with his family, his parents and older brother, in Kiryat Arba. As he recalls, “When we came to Israel, we were the first in our extended family but now, thanks to Shavei Israel, almost our entire family has been brought here on aliyah.”

 

Relating to how he navigated his career path, he recalls, “In the first Covid lockdown I decided to focus on what I love, which is music. I studied music production at U Music college in Jerusalem. The DJ skills I learned on my own, through the internet.”

 

After a few months of learning, Aviel started recording in bars in Jerusalem. Slowly he also started doing events. He currently has regular gigs at several local bars.

 

Aviel adds, “Months ago I decided to embark on a new path and become independent. I left my job working as the manager of a restaurant in Jerusalem. I currently provide DJ services for all events and also provide amplification services, produce parties, and I create electronic music.”
