Chanukah Party in Jerusalem – honoring Hidden Jews from Poland

On the fifth night of Chanukah, Shavei Israel hosted a special Chanukah party for Polish Jews in our Jerusalem Ma’ani Center. The lively group of Polish people, both living in Israel and in Poland, enjoyed the presence and participation of lots of special people including three of the past and present Shavei emissaries and rabbis: Rabbi Isaac Rappaport, Rabbi Boaz Pash and Rabbi Dawid Szychowski, current rabbi in Lodz, and Bogna Skoczylas, who worked for us in the past doing Polish translations.

Rabbi Rappaport performed the Chanukah-lighting ceremony, and the attendees were thrilled to use the Chanukah Guide in Polish that Shavei created for them, and then handed out as gifts.

After everyone sat down and enjoyed some special Chanukah treats, Rabbi Rappaport gave words of Torah and Rabbi Pash did a trivia quiz. There was singing and a hearty ‘lechaim’ was made. Attendees reported having a wonderful time and we look forward to doing something like this again soon!
